During this training the focus was on the babies needs before, during and after birth. I learnt how to advocate for baby, while supporting their parents. The optimal conditions for the newborn baby brain was covered, as well as how the Kangaroula can support and encourage these conditions in the labour ward and when baby comes home.

Developed by Dr Bergman and his wife Jill this course will be taught primarily by Jill and cover the neuroscience of a new born in the first 1,000 seconds, minutes and days. I gained new techniques on how to support the mother baby dyad and the importance of skin to skin contact in different birth situations.  The Kangaroula applies the neuroscience, with awareness that the newborn brain is highly plastic, and adapts very rapidly to the earliest environment it experiences.
